Brandywine Tomato

SKU: 1210 Available to ship: Feb 29, 2016 - May 24, 2016
Brandywine tomato plants are the most well known heirloom variety for good reason. They have huge fruit with incredibly sweet flavor. The variety originates from the Amish in the late 1800's. It is always a staple in our garden because it is so reliable. Starts out pinkish and turns slowly red and then slightly purplish as it ripens. This is the "Sudduth's" strain of the classic Brandywine. Definitely one of the best heirloom tomatoes ever. Ripens in 80-90 days.

"Huge Tomatoes"

Bob on 3/9/2013

Comments: I planted this two years ago, the squirrels would enjoy this tomato on the vine. So, last I was determined to grow this variety. Taste was good, the tomatoes were huge

"Disease Control"

Pablo on 4/14/2012

Comments: I finally discovered the "solution" to growing heirloom tomatoes in Florida. I spray the plants with Serenade Disease control upon planting and at 7-10 day intervals. Be sure to spray the fruit because it is also susceptible to disease. This year I have added the Fox Farm Big Bloom fertilizer resulting in a dramatic increase in blossoms and set fruit. I also spray the plants every 7-10 days with Thuricide or other biological caterpillar spray. This is only effective if it is on the plant when eg... More details

"Great tomato"

Kathleen on 2/14/2012

Comments: All of my tomato plants are grown in pots. They receive full sun in the afternoon and partial shade during the morning. Brandywine does well in MN with our changing temperatures but does not like it too cold. Good producer.

My Rating Is:

"Good Size and Flavor"

Lisa on 9/6/2008

Comments: These are absolutely huge. They are also pretty tasty. They aren't as prolific a producer as some of our other plants, but since they are so big, I guess we don't need as many of them. Great for slicing with a little sea salt and olive oil.

Comments: The 3rd year for growing this one was a charm... juicy, yet so easy to slice; yummers! I'll definitely grow this one again next year!
