Broccoli Plants are planted with 2-3 seeds per 4.5" pot and can be planted together as 1 unit. They will grow to about 2' in diameter producing a central head in the middle of each plant and then some side shoots after harvesting the top. Make sure to harvest them before flowers form.
This plant is not available after May 3rd.
Broccoli is easy to grow as long as you watch out for worms which can be controlled with organic BT worm killer by spraying about once a week during the early growth period. Broccoli will bolt once the weather gets too warm so put plants out early, even before your first frost to allow for full growth before hot weather comes in. While brassicas will survive a frost, a heavy freeze (below 25) may damage the plant
Set plants approx. 16" apart. Watch for cabbage worms and at the earliest sign of leaves with tiny holes in them, spray BT worm killer underneath all of the leaves on a regular routine of once a week. Harvest broccoli when heads are fully formed but before flowers start to form. Side shoots will continue to grow off the main stem after harvesting the main head.
