Cherokee Purple tomato plants are one of the best tomatoes we have ever tasted! This tomato will convince you to grow Heirloom varieties. They are from the Tennessee Cherokee Indians, discovered over 100 years ago and have a thin skin and soft texture. When fully ripened they have dark reddish-purple color, full acidity and rich, old fashioned, sweet flavor. Make sure to mulch for best results and hold back on the watering. Our best results were during a 8 week drought with minimal drip watering. 80 days

"My favorite tasting tomato so far"

Terri on 4/7/2014

Comments: It's all about the taste for me. I really don't care what "color" skin the tomato has. Of the 100+ tomato varieties I've grown to date ( of all different colors and sizes), Cherokee Purple is my favorite tasting tomato so far. It's sweet and very rich tasting with just a little acidity which is the way I love my tomatoes to taste. CP will always have a place in my garden.

My Rating Is:

"Excellent tomato"

Meike on 12/1/2013

Comments: This tomato is delicious, but this year with all the rain, not as productive as other heirloom varieties I grew.

Comments: This is a pretty tomato on the vine. It was one of the three best tomatoes I grew last year. Estiva, Peacevine and Cherokee Purple have excellent taste and prolific yields. Will be buying more this year. You will not be disappointed growing this in New Jersey!!

My Rating Is:

"YUM Cherokee Purple"

Katherine on 2/9/2012

Comments: This is probably the all round household favorite, and I've introduced some of my friends and family to "what? purple tomatoes?!" Goes great just sliced on buttered toast...

My Rating Is:

"Simply The Best!"

Steven on 1/6/2011

Comments: This is the tomato that got me into gardening and into heirloom tomatoes. My mother bought one of these "weird" looking tomatoes about 6 years ago and we made sandwiches with it on toast, just mayo, salt and pepper. I was hooked. It is by far the best tasting tomato ever. I searched all over and found it here and have been a customer ever since. Some years they grow better than others but they are always worth the effort. I can't wait for Spring!
