Chile De Arbol

SKU: 1304 Available to ship: May 27, 2013 - Jun 4, 2013
Chiles de Arbol are narrow, curved chiles that start out green and mature to bright red. The arbol chile is related to the cayenne pepper. Arbol chiles are also the ones that are dried after turning red to be used in holiday wreaths and Chili ristras. In Mexico, you'll also hear them called "bird's beak" or "rat's tail. The Chile de Arbol rates between 15,000 and 30,000 Scoville units and produce tons of 4-5" long peppers.

"Great for drying"

Drew on 11/23/2010

Comments: I had 4 chile plants this year and this is the most hardy of the bunch. It's still going strong and today's date is 11/23/10. These chiles are perfect for drying and using whole or crushing.

"Chili de Arbol"

Nancy on 1/12/2010

Comments: This little plant produced tons of beautiful red peppers, which I dried for use in soups and stews (added whole for a subtle depth of flavor), or ground into chili powder. Also great for decorative value!
