Our Radicchio plants are best grown in the cooler nights of early spring. They are seeded with 2-3 plants per large 4.5" pot and can be planted in the ground or in large containers.
Note-This plant is not available after May 3rd
Radicchio are easy to grow, similar to cabbage, and mature in about 80 to 90 days. Give it plenty of water as when the plants get drought-stressed, the leaves turn tough and bitter.
Add a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plants to cool the
roots, prevent weeds and maintain adequate moisture.
As soon as the heads are
compact, firm and about the size of a softball, simply cut the plant
off at the soil line with a sharp knife. It's best to eat radicchio
soon after harvesting it, but it will keep for several weeks in the
refrigerator.
